Marymount to Host Spoken Word Competition

Montreal - Monday, February 27, 2017

Besides host Marymount, the 30 competing students will come from Laurier Macdonald High School in St. Léonard, John Rennie High School in Pointe Claire, Centennial Academy in NDG and North Star Academy in Laval.

Spoken Word is a performance art that is word based. It is an oral art that focuses on the aesthetics of word play and intonation and voice inflection. This “catchall' activity includes any kind of poetry recited aloud, including hip-hop, jazz poetry, poetry slams, traditional poetry readings and can include comedy routines and “prose monologues.”
